For John Lewis’s 150 year anniversary we created a roof garden with refreshment facilities, seating areas, activities for customers to do, and wc’s on their Oxford street store utilising a previously unused flat roof. The garden is set up in summer to hold events and product launches, and in winter it ties into their Christmas campaigns, and gives the store 750 m sq of extra space. The space is re-worked each season, and is an ideal place for customers to interact with their seasonal advertising campaigns, for example people were able to visit Monty the Penguin’s house, and see the Man in the moon.
Working on the sixth floor of the store to very tight deadlines in an occupied environment with very complex logistics gives us challenges, but we have completed the work to time and budget for its last five incarnations.
